Role Overview
The
Cloud Platform Operations Lead is responsible for managing cloud infrastructure operations across
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, and Microsoft Azure. The role ensures cloud environments are
secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and compliant, while enabling modern DevOps and automation practices.
This position leads operational excellence across
IaaS, PaaS, and cloud-native services, while mentoring technical teams and driving continuous improvement in cloud governance, security, and performance.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Leadership
- Lead provisioning, management, and optimisation of cloud infrastructure across OCI, AWS, and Azure.
- Oversee deployment and configuration of public cloud resources ensuring security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices using Terraform for infrastructure deployments.
- Develop automation scripts and operational tooling for cloud resource management.
Cloud Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to organisational policies, regulatory standards, and cloud best practices.
- Establish and maintain cloud landing zones with policy-as-code guardrails.
- Maintain tagging, naming conventions, quota management, and regional standards.
DevOps & Automation
- Integrate cloud platforms with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
- Implement automated drift detection, remediation, and compliance validation.
Security & Identity
- Define identity and access standards, including SSO, least privilege access, and privileged access management.
- Manage key and secret governance using KMS/HSM systems.
- Implement cloud security baselines aligned with CIS, NIST, and ISO frameworks.
Cloud Networking Architecture
- Design and operate secure cloud networking models including:
- Hub-and-spoke architectures
- Private endpoints
- DNS architecture
- Global load balancing
- Cross-cloud connectivity
Kubernetes & Cloud-Native Platforms
- Lead container platform operations including AKS, EKS, and OKE clusters.
- Manage cluster lifecycle, autoscaling, node pools, admission controllers, and container security.
Observability & SRE Practices
- Implement centralised observability frameworks for logs, metrics, and traces.
- Integrate monitoring with SIEM/SOAR platforms.
- Embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including SLOs, error budgets, and automated remediation.
FinOps & Cost Optimisation
- Lead cloud cost optimisation strategies including:
- Budget monitoring
- Resource rightsizing
- Reserved Instances / Savings Plans
- Cost allocation tagging
Operations & Incident Management
- Lead incident response for cloud platform issues.
- Maintain runbooks, architecture documentation, and operational procedures.
- Define RTO/RPO standards and participate in disaster recovery testing.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and guide L2 Cloud Support Analysts.
- Organise on-call rotations and support operational readiness.
- Promote knowledge sharing and technical capability development.

- Strong experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, and Azure
Infrastructure Automation
- Terraform, CLI tools, and PowerShell
- Infrastructure-as-Code governance and drift management
Security & Identity
- Cloud IAM design, SSO integration, and privileged access controls
- Secret lifecycle management and encryption standards
Cloud Networking
- VPC/VNet architecture
- Routing, peering, DNS, private links, and network security baselines
Container & Kubernetes Platforms
- AKS, EKS, OKE
- Container security, admission controls, autoscaling, and registry governance
DevOps & CI/CD
- IaC pipeline validation using:
- terraform validate

- OPA / Conftest
Observability & ITSM
- Centralised logging, monitoring, and automated incident workflows
FinOps
- Budget monitoring
- Cost optimisation tooling
- Showback/chargeback frameworks
Compliance & Governance
- CIS, NIST, ISO security frameworks
- Cloud posture management and vulnerability remediation
Leadership Skills
- Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities
- Ability to standardise cloud patterns into reusable service blueprints
