Role OverviewThe Cloud Platform Operations Lead is responsible for managing cloud infrastructure operations across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, and Microsoft Azure. The role ensures cloud environments are secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and compliant, while enabling modern DevOps and automation practices.
This position leads operational excellence across IaaS, PaaS, and cloud-native services, while mentoring technical teams and driving continuous improvement in cloud governance, security, and performance.
RequirementsLead provisioning, management, and optimisation of cloud infrastructure across OCI, AWS, and Azure.
Oversee deployment and configuration of public cloud resources ensuring security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices using Terraform for infrastructure deployments.
Develop automation scripts and operational tooling for cloud resource management.
Ensure adherence to organisational policies, regulatory standards, and cloud best practices.
Establish and maintain cloud landing zones with policy-as-code guardrails.
Maintain tagging, naming conventions, quota management, and regional standards.
Integrate cloud platforms with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
Implement automated drift detection, remediation, and compliance validation.
Define identity and access standards, including SSO, least privilege access, and privileged access management.
Manage key and secret governance using KMS/HSM systems.
Implement cloud security baselines aligned with CIS, NIST, and ISO frameworks.
Design and operate secure cloud networking models including:
Hub-and-spoke architectures
Private endpoints
DNS architecture
Global load balancing
Cross-cloud connectivity
Lead container platform operations including AKS, EKS, and OKE clusters.
Manage cluster lifecycle, autoscaling, node pools, admission controllers, and container security.
Implement centralised observability frameworks for logs, metrics, and traces.
Integrate monitoring with SIEM/SOAR platforms.
Embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including SLOs, error budgets, and automated remediation.
Lead cloud cost optimisation strategies including:
Budget monitoring
Resource rightsizing
Reserved Instances / Savings Plans
Cost allocation tagging
Lead incident response for cloud platform issues.
Maintain runbooks, architecture documentation, and operational procedures.
Define RTO/RPO standards and participate in disaster recovery testing.
Mentor and guide L2 Cloud Support Analysts.
Organise on-call rotations and support operational readiness.
Promote knowledge sharing and technical capability development.
Strong experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, and Azure
Terraform, CLI tools, and PowerShell
Infrastructure-as-Code governance and drift management
Cloud IAM design, SSO integration, and privileged access controls
Secret lifecycle management and encryption standards
VPC/VNet architecture
Routing, peering, DNS, private links, and network security baselines
AKS, EKS, OKE
Container security, admission controls, autoscaling, and registry governance
IaC pipeline validation using:
terraform validate
plan gates
OPA / Conftest
Centralised logging, monitoring, and automated incident workflows
Budget monitoring
Cost optimisation tooling
Showback/chargeback frameworks
CIS, NIST, ISO security frameworks
Cloud posture management and vulnerability remediation
Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities
Ability to standardise cloud patterns into reusable service blueprints
