Job Summary

The Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing the organization's cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency. This role supports continuous delivery and automation initiatives across development and production environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to enable reliable, scalable cloud operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for production and development; monitor performance, availability, and costs; and manage networking, storage, compute, and security components.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation; automate provisioning, configuration, and CI/CD pipelines; and build scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency and governance.
  • Implement cloud security best practices, identity and access management, and data protection; conduct system audits to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards; and collaborate with cybersecurity teams on incident response, patching, and monitoring.
  • Manage monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog) in coordination with the MSOC provider; provide operational support and troubleshooting for production issues; and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Track and optimize cloud spend, recommend right-sizing and cost-saving strategies, and continuously improve cost visibility and controls.

Ideal Candidate

Has at least three years of hands-on experience in cloud operations, system administration, or DevOps. They possess strong working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP, with practical experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.

The candidate demonstrates solid Linux and/or Windows system administration skills, a strong grasp of networking fundamentals, and the ability to automate using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience with cloud security best practices, monitoring and logging tools, and cost optimization is essential. Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are preferred, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
