Job Description

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers to ensure the consistent availability of high-quality products across assigned categories. This role focuses on securing competitive pricing, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and building strong supplier partnerships while ensuring product quality, compliance, and commercial targets are met. Also monitors market trends, supports assortment planning, and works closely with internal stakeholders such as merchandising, supply chain, and marketing teams to drive category performance, sales growth, and profitability.

Manage and optimize product assortment across assigned categories based on customer demand, sales performance, and business strategy.

Identify opportunities for new product introductions, SKU rationalization, and assortment improvements. Monitor market and consumer trends to refine product mix and improve category competitiveness.

Supplier Management & Sourcing

  • Source, evaluate, and manage relationships with local and international suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, promotions, and supply agreements to ensure commercial advantage and supply continuity
  • Ensure suppliers meet company standards on quality, service levels, and compliance requirements

Inventory & Supply Planning

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing overstock and wastage
  • Coordinate with supply chain, warehouse, and store operations to support efficient replenishment and distribution
  • Support demand planning and forecasting activities to align procurement with business needs

Pricing & Promotions

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and margin targets
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams on promotional plans, campaigns, and seasonal initiatives
  • Track competitor pricing and market movements to maintain competitiveness

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all sourced products comply with regulatory requirements, internal quality standards, and safety guidelines
  • Partner with quality assurance teams to monitor supplier performance and product integrity

Performance Monitoring

  • Track and analyze key category metrics such as sales, margins, inventory turnover, and supplier performance
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve efficiency, profitability, and overall category growth

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in buying, procurement, or category management (retail, FMCG, or related industries preferred)
  • Experience in supplier negotiation and vendor management
