The Procurement Lead / Buyer for General Materials is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing a wide range of general materials and services essential to support the production and operations of the FMCG company. This role ensures cost-effective procurement, timely delivery, quality compliance, and strong supplier relationships to maintain seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for general materials such as packaging, raw materials, maintenance supplies, and office consumables. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Procurement Execution:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process including request for quotations (RFQs), negotiation of terms and pricing, purchase order issuance, and contract management.
- Cost Optimization:
- Continuously seek cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, and value engineering without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
- Inventory Coordination:
- Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding excess inventory or stockouts.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards. Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and reports.
- Market Analysis:
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new product developments to inform procurement strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, quality, logistics, and finance teams to align procurement activities with operational needs and financial goals.
- Supplier Performance Management:
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly through KPIs such as quality, delivery, and cost metrics; address issues proactively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years experience in procurement or buying role, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
