About the Role

The Business Development role is an early-funnel, outbound pipeline-creation role focused on outbound prospecting and opportunity qualification.

As a BDR, you will work in close partnership with Account Executives to identify, engage, and qualify target accounts, creating sales-accepted opportunities for the sales team.

This role does not include deal closing, quota-carrying revenue ownership, or call-center-style telesales.

What do you do in the role

  • Own outbound prospecting across assigned accounts using a multi-channel approach (email, phone, LinkedIn)
  • Research and engage target accounts within defined ICPs and buying groups
  • Qualify prospects against agreed criteria and create sales-accepted opportunities
  • Partner 1:1 with named Account Executives on account-based outbound strategies
  • Ensure high-quality handoff of opportunities, including context, discovery notes, and validation
  • Maintain accurate activity, account, and opportunity data in CRM
  • Continuously iterate messaging based on AE feedback, win/loss insights, and market signals
  • What this role is NOT
    • A call-center, telesales, or high-volume dialling role
    • A closing or full-cycle sales position
    • An outsourced, freelance, or agency appointment-setting role

What experience/qualities you need to bring with you

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Diverse academic backgrounds that demonstrate analytical thinking and strong communication skills are highly valued.
  • At least 2+ years in outbound sales development, lead generation, or a similar role, preferably in enterprise SaaS or technology.
  • Required
    • Experience selling subscription-based SaaS products in a B2B environment
    • In-house SDR or BDR experience working directly with Account Executives
    • Demonstrated ownership of opportunity quality, not just meetings booked
    • Experience with outbound prospecting in an account-based or territory-based model
    • Comfort engaging multiple stakeholders across technical and business roles
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • NOT Considered Equivalent Experience
    • Inbound-only lead qualification roles without outbound ownership
    • Agency, outsourced, or appointment-setting roles where meetings are delivered to external clients without ownership of opportunity quality
    • Call-center or BPO telesales roles
    • Primarily closing-focused or revenue-carrying sales roles
  • Tools & Environment
    • CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
    • Sales engagement and prospecting tools (e.g., Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
  • How Success Is Measured
    • Volume and quality of sales-accepted opportunities created
    • Conversion of outbound engagement into qualified pipeline
    • Quality of opportunity handoff and AE feedback
    • Consistent execution of account-based outbound motions
  • Nice to Have
    • Experience supporting mid-market or enterprise SaaS sales motions
    • Familiarity with structured qualification frameworks (e.g., CHAMP, MEDDICC-lite)
  • Experience selling into complex or multi-stakeholder buying environments
