The Brand Manager is responsible for developing and executing brand strategy that shapes how Unioil is perceived by its current and potential customers in the retail market. This role owns three critical outcomes: building a strong and consistent retail brand presence, driving customer engagement through data-informed marketing campaigns, and aligning the entire retail organization around a unified brand direction. This is not a purely strategic role — it is a hands-on marketing leadership position that places the manager at the intersection of consumer insights, creative direction, and commercial performance, working closely with retail operations, agency partners, and the broader marketing team to grow Unioil's retail brand
How You'll Drive Success
Brand Strategy & Positioning
- Analyze brand positioning and consumer insights to identify gaps, opportunities, and competitive white spaces that can strengthen Unioil's standing in the retail petroleum market
- Translate brand elements, values, and identity standards into actionable plans and go-to-market strategies that resonate with target audiences across all retail touchpoints
- Shape and communicate Unioil's retail brand vision and mission internally and externally, ensuring all brand expressions are aligned and consistent
- Align the retail organization around the brand's direction, choices, and tactics — acting as the brand's internal champion across departments
Campaign Development & Creative Leadership
- Lead creative development efforts to motivate the target audience to take action — driving footfall, loyalty, and product trial through compelling, insight-led brand communications
- Oversee new and ongoing marketing and advertising activities, ensuring creative output is on-brand, on-time, and within approved budgets
- Establish performance specifications, cost and price parameters, market applications, and sales estimates for all brand-driven campaigns and initiatives
- Lead a team of marketing professionals working on brand initiatives, providing clear direction, creative feedback, and performance accountability
Market Intelligence & Consumer Research
- Monitor market trends, research consumer markets, and track competitors activities to keep Unioil's retail brand strategy current and competitively relevant
- Monitor product distribution and consumer reactions across the retail network, translating field insights into brand refinements and campaign adjustments
- Develop and maintain a robust understanding of the full marketing mix as it applies to retail petroleum, including promotions, channel strategy, pricing optics, and loyalty
Performance Management & Growth
- Measure and report the performance of all marketing campaigns against established KPIs, providing regular updates to the senior leadership
- Devise innovative growth strategies that expand brand reach, deepen customer engagement, and support Unioil's retail network expansion objectives
- Identify emerging opportunities in digital, experiential, and partnership marketing that can elevate the Unioil retail brand and drive measurable business outcomes
The Expertise You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
- Post-graduate studies or certifications in Brand Management, Marketing Strategy, or Consumer Insights are an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of proven working experience as a Brand Manager, preferably within an FMCG or large consumer-facing organization
- Demonstrated ability to develop brand and marketing strategies and communicate recommendations effectively to senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience in identifying target audiences and devising effective, multi-channel marketing campaigns from brief through to execution and evaluation
- Experience in the petroleum, energy, or retail industry is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent understanding of the full marketing mix and how brand strategy connects to commercial outcomes in a retail context
- Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind — able to interpret data, surface insights, and translate them into compelling brand actions
- Data-driven thinking and a genuine affinity for numbers, metrics, and campaign performance management
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills — able to influence, align, and inspire across all levels of the organization
- Up-to-date with the latest marketing trends, digital platforms, consumer behavior shifts, and retail marketing best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with marketing analytics tools, CRM platforms, or digital campaign management systems is an advantage
