Job Description

Responsibilities

Driving & Logistics

  • Operate and drive the boom truck to and from job sites, ensuring compliance with road safety rules and company policies.
  • Plan routes, check access/clearance constraints, and coordinate delivery schedules with site teams
  • Secure loads properly for road transport; verify permits and documentation as required.

Crane / Boom Operation

  • Set up the boom truck on stable ground, position outriggers, and ensure load charts and safety devices are in place.
  • Perform safe lifting, slewing, andplacement of loads such as pipes, MTBM components, jacking frames, steel,and construction materials.
  • Calculate or verify load weights, radius,sling angles, and working load limits (WLL) before each lift.
  • Coordinate with Rigger using standardhand signals or radio communication.

Microtunneling & Site Support

  • Lift and lower equipment/materials into jacking/receiving pits and confined areas with precision.
  • Assist in positioning rails, thrust blocks, lubrication lines, and pipe segments during setup.
  • Execute lifts in tight corridors and overhead-restricted environments with high situational awareness.

Inspection, Maintenance & Documentation

  • Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections: tires, brakes, hydraulics, wire ropes/slings, hooks, safety latches, outrigger pads, load indicators.
  • Report defects and coordinate with mechanics for maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain daily logs: operating hours,fuel, inspections, trip sheets, lifting checklists, and permits.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow company safety procedures, PPE,and lockout/tagout where applicable.
  • Comply with lifting plans, exclusionzones, tag lines usage, and barricading requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, JHA/TRA, and adhere to local regulations and recognized standards for lifting operations.

Job Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years experience as a Boom Truck Operator/Driver in construction, utilities, or industrial projects.
  • Valid Professional Driver's License(appropriate restriction code) and clean driving record
  • Proven experience operating truck-mountedcranes (telescopic or knuckle boom) and reading load charts.
  • Familiar with rigging & slinging basics, WLL identification, and use of lifting accessories.
  • Advantageous certifications:
  • Boom Truck / Mobile Crane Operator Certification (TESDA or accredited provider)
  • Basic Rigging & Signaling / Rigger Level I
  • Confined Space Awareness (for shaft environments)
  • BOSH/COSH or equivalent site safety training
