Job Description

Objectives of the Role:

The objectives of this role is to assist our large client base with their bookkeeping needs. The bookkeepers at Walshs work closely with team members to meet ATO lodgment and reporting obligations for clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Code transactions with correct GST treatment (GST, GST-Free, Input Taxed, Export).
  • Reconcile GST accounts and prepare supporting workpapers.
  • Assist in drafting the BAS for agent review.
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure GST is coded correctly.
  • Review P&L and Balance Sheet for inconsistencies.
  • Liaise with onshore Bookkeepers on queries and support to finalise work.
  • Liaise with onshore accountants as required

Skills & Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years experience as a bookkeeper
  • Current working experience in Xero
  • Hubdoc knowledge would be an advantage, but is not essential
  • Knowledge and understanding in Profit and Loss reporting
  • Knowledge and understanding of BAS and IAS reporting.
  • Experience accessing and use of the ATO portal
  • High attention to detail
  • Enjoys and is able to problem solve autonomously and think outside the box
  • Medical Practice knowledge or experience highly regarded, but not essential for application

Qualifications:


  • Secondary education required
  • Cert IV in Bookkeeping, or relevant field is preferred but not essential
