Your Role: As a
Billing Specialist, you will:
- Identify and resolve patient and insurance billing issues.
- Verify benefits for various service lines.
- Follow-up on denied, appealed, and reconsideration of claims.
- Manage patient AR by collecting outstanding accounts, processing payments, and discussing insurance and billing questions.
- Update insurance payor information and profiles.
- Support clinical staff, physicians, and front office staff with questions regarding insurance policies, authorizations, and payments.
- Analyze insurance processes, productivity, aging, and revenue cycle reporting.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Answer incoming patient and insurance calls.
- Apply working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance Payors, Workers Compensation, and Managed Healthcare.
What You Need: Non-negotiables
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proven success working with medical providers, support staff, and patients in a collaborative environment.
- Competency with current ICD/CPT codes and mental health or primary care coding.
- Strong ability to review and interpret patient bills and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Ability to identify incorrect data and perform appropriate corrections independently.
Preferred Skills/expertise
- Accredited or certified biller/coder with mental health billing experience.
- Previous experience with medical billing software systems.
- Experience working in a fast-paced medical office environment.
- Knowledge of patient registration, charge entry, and medical policies.
- Advanced problem-solving, error detection, and interpersonal communication skills.
