Job Description

Job title: Accounting Supervisor

Type of employment: Full-time

Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM PHT (1-hour lunch)

We're looking for an Accounting Team Lead who will manage a team of accountants/bookkeepers while ensuring accurate, timely month-end close and high-quality financial reporting for professional services clients. This role is hands-on, reviewing month-end financials, solving complex accounting issues, building/improving Excel workbooks, and partnering closely with the U.S.-based manager to keep delivery consistent and scalable.

Objective of this role:

  • Lead and scale a high-performing accounting team (currently 6, with growth potential), leveraging at least 2+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Drive month-end excellence by ensuring accuracy and timeliness through rigorous review and technical problem-solving.
  • Modernize and standardize workflows, templates, and sophisticated Excel models to ensure delivery consistency across a diverse client portfolio.
  • Serve as a technical anchor and escalation point for complex accounting, reporting, and deep-dive forensic modeling needs.
  • Maintain seamless alignment with the U.S. manager to meet aggressive deadlines and uphold the high-quality standards expected in commercial industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of 6, drawing on established management experience to support hiring and professional development as the firm grows.
  • Review and approve comprehensive month-end financials, ensuring technical accuracy in reconciliations and reporting packages.
  • Oversee accrual-based accounting for a portfolio primarily focused on commercial industries (marketing, tech, professional services), with a heavy emphasis on revenue recognition, job costing, and time tracking.
  • Reverse-engineer and optimize complex, CAO-level Excel workbooks and financial models to improve reporting automation and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot systemic accounting issues, identifying root causes in data flow or logic and implementing corrective processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to close timelines, quality controls, and standardized documentation across all client accounts.
  • Collaborate with U.S. leadership on status updates, high-level escalations, and strategic performance improvements.
  • Analyze productivity metrics and time-tracking data to support capacity planning, utilization forecasting, and delivery performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience managing an accounting team within a firm environment (AURA/Outsourced Accounting/Fractional CFO).
  • Deep Professional Services expertise, specifically regarding revenue recognition nuances, project-based accounting, and job costing.
  • Expert-level Excel capability: Must be comfortable building, auditing, and reverse-engineering complex, multi-tab models and CAO-level workbooks.
  • Strong accrual accounting foundation with experience across various commercial sectors like marketing, professional services, and tech.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBD).
  • Strategic problem-solver who can diagnose complex financial discrepancies and build scalable, practical solutions.
  • Experience in delivery-focused environments, utilizing time-tracking platforms to manage team output and client profitability.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work synchronously with a U.S.-based manager.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience leading or improving close processes (checklists, SOPs, templates, controls)
  • Experience with multi-client accounting operations (outsourced/fractional accounting model)
  • Familiarity with KPI-based team performance tracking (turnaround time, accuracy, utilization)
  • Experience supporting process/system improvements across accounting workflows
