Job Description

The Accounting Assistant provides support to the Accounting and Finance Department by handling day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting in the preparation of reports. This role ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded and company policies and procedures are followed.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in recording daily financial transactions (sales, expenses, receipts, and payments)
  • Prepare and maintain vouchers, invoices, official receipts, and other accounting documents
  • Encode and update accounting records in the accounting system
  • Assist in accounts payable and accounts receivable monitoring
  • Reconcile bank statements and petty cash
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Support payroll preparation and monitoring of employee-related payments
  • Assist in filing and remittance of government statutory contributions (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG) and taxes, if required
  • Maintain proper filing and safekeeping of accounting documents
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding financial concerns
  • Assist during internal and external audits
  • Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as may be assigned by the immediate superior

Reporting Line

  • Reports directly to the Finance Manager / Accounting Supervisor / Company Accountant (depending on company structure).

Work Environment

  • Office-based / Hybrid (depending on company policy).
  • May require occasional overtime during reporting and audit periods.

Educational Background

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional license (CPA) is an advantage but not always required

Work Experience

  • At least 13 years of relevant experience in accounting/finance (for staff/associate level)
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and taxation is an advantage
  • Background in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or similar systems)

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and forecasts
  • Familiarity with government compliance requirements (BIR, SEC, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, etc.)
