The Accounting Manager is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the Company's financial books and records across all business units, including multiple retail sites and gas stations. The role owns the monthly financial close, financial statement preparation and analysis, and the day-to-day management of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) functions, while maintaining strong internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) across a multi-site operating environment.

How You'll Drive Success

Monthly Financial Closing & Reporting

  • Lead the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process, ensuring deadlines and reporting calendars are consistently met.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjust entries prior to closing.
  • Consolidate financial results across multiple sites/stations and business units.
  • Prepare monthly management reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for CFO and senior management review.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory and regulatory financial reports.

Financial Statements Review & Analysis

  • Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget vs. prior period) and provide commentary on key drivers. Identify anomalies, unusual trends, or errors and coordinate timely resolution.
  • Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with PFRS/IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of board and management reporting packages.

Oversight of AP, AR, and General Ledger Processes

  • Supervise and manage the Accounts Payable function – vendor invoice processing, payment runs, aging analysis, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Supervise and manage the Accounts Receivable function – billing, collections, customer account reconciliations, and aging/DSO monitoring.
  • Own the General Ledger – chart of accounts maintenance, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and month-end schedules.
  • Ensure proper cut-off procedures and complete transactions across all sites/stations.
  • Drive process standardization and efficiency across AP, AR, and GL functions, particularly across multiple locations.

Internal Controls (ICFR)

  • Maintain and strengthen basic Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) across accounting processes.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties, authorization matrices, and approval workflows are followed.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements; prepare audit schedules and respond to audit queries.
  • Identify control gaps or weaknesses, especially in multi-site operations, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulatory requirements (BIR, SEC, etc.).

Multi-Site / Retail Operations Support

  • Oversee accounting and reporting consistency across multiple retail sites/gas stations, ensuring uniform application of accounting policies.
  • Coordinate with site/station-level personnel (station managers, cashiers, site accountants) on cash reconciliations, inventory (fuel and non-fuel/convenience store items), and revenue reporting.
  • Monitor site-level financial performance and flag discrepancies or leakage risks
  • Support rollout of accounting systems, controls, and reporting tools across new or existing sites.

People & Team Management

  • Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff (AP, AR, GL, and site-level accounting personnel).
  • Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and build team capability.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Expertise You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, fuel retailing, or related industry strongly preferred
  • Must have experience in multi-site or multi-store environments (e.g., retail chains, franchise operations, gas station networks, convenience stores, or similar distributed operations); experience with fuel retail or convenience store operations is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle monthly close, financial statement preparation, and AP/AR/GL functions.
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors and supporting ICFR/internal control frameworks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of PFRS/IFRS and local tax and regulatory requirements (BIR, SEC).
  • Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar); experience with multi-site consolidation is an advantage.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with financial reporting and BI tools a plus.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls (ICFR) design and testing at a working/practitioner level.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines across various sites/entities.
  • Strong communication skills – able to liaise effectively with site-level staff, senior management, and auditors.
  • Leadership and people management skills; able to build and develop a capable accounting team.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, given oversight of cash-intensive, multi-site retail operations.
