Accounting Manager — Lead the Close, Own the Numbers
A great month-end close doesn't just happen — someone drives it. That someone is you. We're looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead our day-to-day accounting operations, safeguard the integrity of the general ledger, and build a team that delivers accurate, on-time financials every single cycle.
This is leadership without losing touch with the work — you'll manage a team
and roll up your sleeves in the ledger. If you love both the people side and the precision side of accounting, keep reading.
What You'll Own
General accounting & month-end close — You'll lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. You'll safeguard the integrity of the general ledger, ensure compliance with accounting policy, and run proactive analytical reviews to catch and understand variances fast.
Financial reporting support — You'll support the Finance Director in preparing consolidated financial statements and monthly management reporting, drive the journal entries and analysis needed to consolidate financials (including intercompany reconciliations), and support annual audits by coordinating requests and preparing disclosure schedules.
Payroll oversight — You'll oversee payroll accounting and reconciliations, ensure every pay period is accurately recorded, and partner with HR and payroll providers to keep processing timely and compliant.
Opex, capex & fixed assets — You'll oversee accounting for operating and capital expenditures, ensure proper capitalisation of assets, and maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and disposals — plus review capital project accounting and reconciliations.
Cash & bank accounting — You'll own bank reconciliations and cash accounting, ensure timely recording and resolution of reconciling items, support treasury with accurate records and strong controls, and drive tools and process improvements that make reconciliation sharper.
Leadership & team development — You'll lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, set priorities, keep work accurate and on schedule, and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and growth.
Process improvement & internal controls — You'll spot opportunities to improve and automate, strengthen internal controls over financial reporting, and play a real part in ERP enhancements and cross-functional projects.
You'll thrive here if you have

The kind of leader who fits
A hands-on leader with strong operational accounting knowledge, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and a high bar for detail and accuracy. Organised and project-minded, a natural communicator across functions, and always looking for the better way to do things.
What Success Looks Like
An accurate, efficient month-end close. High-quality records and reconciliations. Reliable financial information that lets the Finance Director prepare consolidated statements and executive reporting with confidence. And a high-performing team, stronger internal controls, and better processes than you found.
Why you'll love it
This is a role with real ownership — of the close, the ledger, and the team. You'll have the influence to shape how accounting runs and the autonomy to make it better, all while developing people and driving the numbers that leadership relies on.
If you're ready to lead the close
and the team, let's talk.
