Job Description
Job Objective
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for the initial validation and recording of daily accounting transactions of MVPHI and its subsidiaries into the accounting system, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting in the preparation of reports. The position will report directly to the Finance Associate Manager and will work closely with MPIC Finance and other departments within the company. The Junior Accountant is expected to have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, tax compliance, and the ability to deliver outputs within set timelines.
Primary Responsibilities / Duties
Data Entry and Validation
Record day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring data entered into the accounting system is accurate, correctly classified in the general ledger (GL), timely, and compliant with tax and other government regulations.
Verify that every entry has appropriate and correct supporting documentation, including BIR invoices, receipts, contracts, purchase orders, and working files, to ensure a clean audit trail and tax compliance.
Ensure capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenses (OPEX) are properly classified, recorded, and monitored.
Financial Reports and Reconciliations
Assist in the preparation of periodic internal and external financial reports to ensure timely submission.
Validate weekly and monthly plant reports for invoicing.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly expanded withholding tax and quarterly VAT schedules.
Monitor and update accruals.
Prepare and monitor other monthly reporting schedules as assigned.
Assist in preparing Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flow Statements, as needed.
Internal and External Audit
Assist in the timely completion of audits by SGV or other external/internal audit bodies by collating and summarizing documents, preparing required schedules, and performing other audit-related tasks.
Internal Controls
Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing best practices.
Documentation and Recordkeeping
Ensure accurate and organized documentation of financial transactions and policies.
Maintain compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements.
Required Work and Professional Experience
Experience in the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing cycle and month-end closing procedures, including accruals monitoring, bank reconciliation, advances, and liquidations.
Familiarity with performing daily accounting tasks using SAP or similar ERP systems, including recording supplier invoices, journal entries, and pulling trial balances and journal entries, as well as maintaining manual financial records.
Exposure to internal and external audits.
Experience identifying bottlenecks in accounting tasks and internal controls and suggesting more efficient tools or methods.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and basic logical formulas.

Educational Background
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of GAAP.
Required Certifications / Licenses
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.
ERP training or certification (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar systems) is an advantage.
