Job Overview
A commercially minded CPA is sought to strengthen a growing finance team, playing a vital role in ensuring sound financial operations, accurate reporting, and solid compliance; ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, multi‑entity work and can balance strategic insight with hands‑on accounting execution.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support preparation of Profit & Loss statements, cash-flow reports, and KPI reporting
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, ATO, and statutory obligations
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Oversee AP and AR processes for designated contracts to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and internal controls
- Review supplier invoices, purchase orders, and creditor payments via Xero and ApprovalMax
- Monitor aged receivables, review escalation strategies, and support collections where required
- Ensure correct revenue recognition and invoicing practices
Banking, Reconciliations & Cash Management
- Review daily bank and credit card reconciliations
- Support weekly and monthly cash-flow forecasting
- Identify discrepancies, risks, or inefficiencies and recommend improvements
Payroll & HR Finance Support
- Support payroll processing, timesheet validation, and payroll reconciliations
- Ensure payroll, superannuation, and tax obligations are compliant
- Work alongside HR to ensure onboarding documentation is complete via Employment Hero
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement
- Strengthen internal financial controls, systems, and processes
- Liaise with internal operations teams, auditors, external accountants, and advisors
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and reporting
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant
- 3–5+ years experience in accounting or finance roles preferably within Australia
- Strong hands-on experience with Xero (essential); ApprovalMax highly regarded
- Solid understanding of Australian tax, payroll, and compliance obligations
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, reconciliations, reporting)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
