Job Overview

A commercially minded CPA is sought to strengthen a growing finance team, playing a vital role in ensuring sound financial operations, accurate reporting, and solid compliance; ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, multi‑entity work and can balance strategic insight with hands‑on accounting execution.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support preparation of Profit & Loss statements, cash-flow reports, and KPI reporting
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, ATO, and statutory obligations

Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight

  • Oversee AP and AR processes for designated contracts to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and internal controls
  • Review supplier invoices, purchase orders, and creditor payments via Xero and ApprovalMax
  • Monitor aged receivables, review escalation strategies, and support collections where required
  • Ensure correct revenue recognition and invoicing practices

Banking, Reconciliations & Cash Management

  • Review daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Support weekly and monthly cash-flow forecasting
  • Identify discrepancies, risks, or inefficiencies and recommend improvements

Payroll & HR Finance Support

  • Support payroll processing, timesheet validation, and payroll reconciliations
  • Ensure payroll, superannuation, and tax obligations are compliant
  • Work alongside HR to ensure onboarding documentation is complete via Employment Hero

Process Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strengthen internal financial controls, systems, and processes
  • Liaise with internal operations teams, auditors, external accountants, and advisors
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and reporting

Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 3–5+ years experience in accounting or finance roles preferably within Australia
  • Strong hands-on experience with Xero (essential); ApprovalMax highly regarded
  • Solid understanding of Australian tax, payroll, and compliance obligations
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, reconciliations, reporting)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
