Job Description
Our client is looking for an experienced Accountant to support a growing accounting and financial consulting practice. This role goes beyond basic bookkeeping—you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, applying accounting judgment, and ensuring client books are complete, compliant, and ready for reporting and tax preparation.
You'll work closely with the founder, taking ownership of day-to-day accounting responsibilities while helping build efficient processes that support the firm's continued growth.
Schedule:
Sunday - Thursday, 8:30 PM - 12:30 AM Pacific
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients across various industries
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts with a high level of accuracy
- Review and categorize transactions according to US GAAP and accounting best practices
- Prepare and maintain month-end accounting workpapers and reconciliations
- Support tax preparation workflows and ensure financial records are organized for tax filings
- Work primarily in QuickBooks Online, with occasional use of Xero and ProConnect tax software
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues proactively
- Communicate with the founder regarding financial questions, unusual transactions, and process improvements
- Ensure client books remain accurate, complete, and audit-ready
Must-Have Requirements
- Extensive experience providing accounting services for US-based companies or clients
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles
- Proven experience as an Accountant
- Multiple years of experience with the same employer or client, demonstrating reliability and long-term commitment
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Strong account reconciliation and month-end close experience
- Ability to analyze financial transactions and apply sound accounting judgment rather than simply processing entries
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Experience with Xero
- Familiarity with ProConnect or similar tax preparation software
- Previous experience working in a public accounting firm or multi-client consulting environment
- Experience supporting tax preparation and financial reporting
