The WP Senior Developer Role
Build custom WordPress themes from design briefs. Implement client websites (design code), maintain existing sites, publish content, and optimize performance. You work independently with periodic oversight.
Time tracking with screenshots required. We're upfront because we bill clients hourly.
What You'll Do
Design implementation & theme building (35%) Custom themes from Figma/XD mockups, responsive builds, custom PHP/JS
Site maintenance (25%) Updates, troubleshooting, security, backups
Content publishing (15%) Articles, pages, metadata, workflows
Performance optimization (12%) Speed, caching, CDN, Lighthouse scores
Migrations & technical work (10%) Server migrations, DNS, SEO, PBN setup
AI integration (3%) Use ChatGPT, Claude, design AI to accelerate delivery
You Have
Must-haves
7+ years WordPress development with portfolio of custom theme builds
Expert HTML/CSS/JavaScript and PHP/MySQL
Design tool fluency (Figma, XD) and ability to translate mockups to code
Responsive design expertise and Lighthouse optimization
Git, DNS management, cPanel/hosting admin
Custom post types, taxonomies, ACF, custom plugins
Expert use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, design AI) in your workflow
Technical SEO
