Job Description

An In-House Veterinarian provides comprehensive medical care for animals within a specific organization or facility, such as a corporate office, research lab, animal shelter, or veterinary clinic. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing routine health checks, administering vaccines, conducting surgeries, and providing emergency care. The veterinarian also ensures proper health management practices for animals, educates staff or clients on animal care, and may assist in developing health and safety protocols. Collaboration with other veterinary professionals and staff is key to maintaining the overall well-being of the animals under their care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in animals.
  • Perform routine check-ups and preventive health care.
  • Administer vaccinations and medications.
  • Conduct surgeries and other medical procedures
  • Provide emergency medical care when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate health records for animals.
  • Educate clients or staff on proper animal care, health maintenance, and safety.
  • Develop and implement health and safety protocols for animal care.
  • Collaborate with other veterinary professionals and staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid veterinary license in the state of employment.
  • Strong knowledge of animal medicine, surgery, and care.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Compassionate and caring attitude toward animals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in veterinary practice or a specialized area is a plus.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
