As an Advanced Operations Specialist in AEVEN you will be part of our Data Handling & UNIX / Linux Operations team that handles the daily operation of more than 929 servers (mix of HP-UX, AIX, Solaris and Linux). Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Participate in the daily operations of incident, service and change request management
  • Participate in call and on-site duty 24/7
  • Involved in consolidation, automation and performance optimization
  • Enterprise operation with decentralized and remote locations and data centres
  • Documentation of operations and services

The team works closely together with our IT Operations Services division in Denmark, responsible for everything from infrastructure and applications to complete orchestration and support of our customers IT solutions. Our work processes are based on best practice and our procedures follow ITIL standards (IT Infrastructure Library).

Your qualifications

As an Advanced Operations Specialist you have to have a broad technical knowledge on a 2nd level or higher support. You have a business-oriented approach to communication and problem-solving. You have strong analytical skills as well as a structured positive way of thinking. AEVEN works according to the ITIL Framework and we expect that you are certified in ITIL, if not we will help you obtain the certification.

  • Relevant bachelor's degree, and at least 5 years solid working experience with extensive experience in daily operations/system administration with two or more UNIX/Linux flavors (HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, and Linux) and other technical tasks preferably in a service oriented environment. Server design/architecture exposure is a big plus.
  • Ability to create recommendations to use innovative and creative approaches/strategies/solutions as appropriate to meet client's (and/or team) varying demands/needs.
  • Extensive knowledge on UNIX/Linux administration supporting a large scale/global sites from remote locations.
  • Highly-preferred with AIX experience: installation (NIM), configuration, virtualization (VIO/LPAR), high-availability (HACMP), troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Experience working with SAN/NAS and other Storage technologies (e.g. 3PAR, EMC VMAX/VNX/VPLEX).
  • Symantec NetBackup experience is desired and other backup solutions.
  • Familiarity on HP Enclosure and HP Tools (iLO and OA) and other blade technologies.
  • Ability to write/debug shell scripts.
  • Excellent English language skill is required both in written and spoken.
  • Excellent documentation, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, and must be able to communicate effectively and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team player, have a business-first mindset and enjoy working in a sometimes hectic environment where tasks and priorities can change.
  • Beneficial but not mandatory, certified as RHCSA/RHCE or AIX Certified Systems Administrator/Engineer or any other related UNIX/Linux certification; ITIL v3 Foundation
  • International experience is a plus; Multinational and cultural experience.
  • Willing to work on shifts (holidays and on weekends as part of Operations Centre duty).
  • Assertive in communication.
  • Shows passion through word and deed.

Work Schedule

Employees will be expected to adhere to a flexible hybrid work schedule, with a required presence in the office for 1 day per week, allowing for customization of work hours within a specified morning or mid-shift time frame.
