Role Overview
The Transportation Dispatcher will handle night dispatch operations for a 24/7 Auckland-based transport company. This role focuses on coordinating drivers, monitoring trips, and managing communications primarily via email, ensuring smooth operations during New Zealand night-time. The dispatcher will play a key role in supporting a large base of Filipino drivers in New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch & Coordination
- Coordinate runs, routes, and job assignments for drivers during the night shift.
- Monitor trip progress and ensure that schedules and routes are followed.
- Handle changes, delays, and issues by coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
Communication
- Use email as the primary communication channel for dispatch-related updates
- Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers and office staff.
- Help bridge communication gaps, especially with Filipino drivers, using Tagalog and/or Bisaya when beneficial.
Monitoring & Issue Management
- Monitor operations during the 6 PM - 6 AM NZT window (or similar night-shift hours, with some flexibility or split shifts as needed).
- Escalate operational issues to the appropriate head of department or GM.
- Support incident logging, basic reporting, and follow-through on urgent matters.
Documentation & Systems
- Update dispatch records, logs, and systems in real time (or near real time).
- Maintain accurate information regarding driver allocation, schedules, and
- completed jobs.
- Follow company SOPs and procedures for dispatch and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5-7+ years of relevant experience in dispatch, transport coordination, logistics operations, or similar (senior-level profile preferred).
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal), with clear and concise email communication.
- Tagalog fluency is required; Bisaya is an advantage, given the existing Filipino driver base.
- Previous experience working in 24/7 operations or night-shift environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with dispatch/transport management systems is a plus.

- Ability to multitask and manage multiple jobs, routes, and drivers simultaneously.
- Calm and professional under pressure, especially during peak operations.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through on tasks and issues.
- Culturally aligned and comfortable working closely with both New Zealand management and Filipino drivers.
Work Schedule
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Primarily New Zealand night shift - typically 6 PM to 6 AM NZT
