Job Summary:
The Telecommunication Tower Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunication tower equipment and related systems. The role involves working at heights, handling technical installations, and ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Maintenance
- Install, align, and secure antennas, radios, dishes, and related telecom equipment on towers.
- Run, terminate, and test cables (fiber optic, coaxial, and power cables).
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of tower sites.
- Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Replace or repair faulty components and connections.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow strict safety procedures for working at heights and with electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and site conditions.
- Submit site reports and updates to supervisors.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other technicians.
- Provide technical feedback to improve processes and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or vocational/technical training in electronics, telecommunications, or related field.
- Experience in tower climbing and telecom equipment installation (certification preferred).
- Knowledge of RF systems, fiber optics, and cable management.
- Physically fit and comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Work Environment:
- Field-based role with frequent travel to tower sites.
- Requires climbing towers and working outdoors in varying weather.
- May involve weekend, evening, or emergency work.
