About the job Tig Welder (ATP)
Reporting to the Production Supervisor (Piping & Mechanical), the TIG Welder is responsible for working within a team to perform precision welding on metal pipes and components using the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) method.
The role ensures high-quality welds are achieved in accordance with project specifications, while contributing to minimal production time and maintaining a positive and motivated team environment.
Essential
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Relevant trade qualifications or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years experience in the shipbuilding industry
- High school or technical/vocational school graduate
- Experience in TIG welding, with the ability to work on stainless steel, aluminium, or CuNi materials
Desirable
- Completion of a formal TIG welding training program or apprenticeship
- Strong understanding of TIG welding principles, techniques, and safety protocols
- Ability to perform high-precision welds with minimal defects
- Familiarity with material preparation, preheating, and weld inspection
- Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, spool drawings, and welding symbols
- Experience working with various metals including stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, and copper
- Proficiency in measuring, planning welds, and understanding material thicknesses
- Commitment to safe work practices, including proper use of PPE and hazard handling.
