This role assists in developing various test deliverables from a business perspective. This role carries expertise on specific application domain and/or business domain in analyzing requirements to identify scope and test planning and test data requirements and other dependencies.
Key Accountabilities:
- Testing deliverables across the delivery lifecycle and quality of testing activities meet defined standards
- Coordinating all test planning/preparation/execution activities for a release (project or support).
- Delivering the test services on time and within budget while meeting all quality objectives.
- Provides day-to-day direction to the Test Specialists and regular project status.
- Communicating the test status, resolving issues, and ensuring effective test process improvement feedback.
- Coordinate, develop and/or review project estimates and estimating assumptions during the project's Gate 2 estimation phase using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience. The resulting estimates account for all test activities for the project.
Test Planning/Preparation/Execution:
- Review and Analyze Business Requirements
- Prepare detailed test plans and facilitate test plan review/approval for all test phases
- Create and maintain Project Test Preparation and Execution/Cycle Plan and monitor budget and timeline by breaking down testing activities and assigning tasks to test team members.
- Define the test cycles (including the initial mapping of test conditions to test cycles and iterations) referenced as a schedule when executing the various tests.
- Confirm Test Execution Approach (Test environment management, Defect management)
- Close Out Test Planning, and Confirm Execution Estimate
- Create/review test specifications for all test phases to ensure complete test coverage, traceability to the requirements, and adherence/consistency based on the agreed approach
- Define and create test data to be used for testing
- Provide review and signoff on test specification documents and execution deliverables by the Test Specialists
- Defect Management/triage coordination
Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 years of software testing experience with experience leading a team of Test Specialists
- More than 3 years working experience as a Test Lead
- Strong understanding of common SDLC methodologies, including Agile / Scrum, and technologies like API/Guidewire.
- Familiar with the test types and techniques applicable to functional testing
- Enthusiastic, positive, team oriented, and organized. Has intermediate knowledge of the test types and test techniques, and is able to use them appropriately for defining the specific approach and preparing test specifications for all test phases
- Ability to structure own or other's activities to improve productivity or minimize delays/rework
- Ability to successfully lead concurrent Testing projects and production support delivery.
- Ability to identify, clarifies, and resolve issues and risks, escalating them as needed.
