Job Description

The Technical Stage Staff supports Entertainment Technical Operations in delivering high-quality entertainment experiences to guests. The Technical Stage Staff primarily assists the backstage operations of multiple venues including repair and maintenance of various audio, lighting, or stage equipment and props. This position may support other members of the Entertainment Technical Team, Group Coordinator and certain members of the Entertainment Division's Management Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a shipboard position. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with all company policies, legal guidelines, and industry best practices in effect at the time of active employment.

1. The Technical Stage Staff reports directly to the Stage Production Manager when operating a show or event in a venue and receives their daily schedules from the Head Stage Staff.

2. Performs show-related duties as instructed while prioritizing safety and upholding the artistic and technical integrity of all produced entertainment onboard.

  1. Prior to rehearsals or performances, the Technical Stage Staff sets up the venue according to a technical rider or track sheet.
  2. Assembles and inspects all props, set pieces, and equipment.
  3. Maintains cleanliness of the rehearsal or performance areas.
  4. During rehearsals or performances, the Technical Stage Staff: Follows the assigned and approved track sheet duties and listens for the show caller's cues.
  5. Monitors the stage, calling accurate clears and assisting with the movement of props and set pieces.
  6. Communicates effectively and professionally both on and off the venue communication system.
  7. Performs other duties as instructed; tasks may include assisting with costume changes, band setups, or operating spotlights.
  8. · Rehearsals or performances, the Technical Stage Staff: Inspects and securely stores all props, set pieces, and equipment.
  9. Promptly communicates any concerns of damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Stage & Production Managers and Head Stage Staff.
  10. Ensures the cleanliness, safety, and security of the venue and backstage areas.

3. Proactively supports the live music and entertainment program around the ship by assisting with the handling of props, set pieces, instruments, and equipment for headliner acts, guest activities, parades, and band sets.

  • May be actively involved in the maintenance and repairs of all props, set pieces, and equipment used in the live entertainment program around the ship. May work at height, on ladders, grids, aerial work platforms, and under hydraulic lifts.

4. May be called upon by the Stage & Production Managers to support Group Coordinators in setting up and striking identified equipment for special events and presentations.

5. Participates in all scheduled rehearsals, meetings, and trainings.

6. Accurately updates track sheets, maintenance logs, and other operational documents or electronic assets stored within company approved databases.

7. Performs related duties as required by shipboard or shoreside leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Works well with a team: collaborative, communicates promptly and accurately, adaptable, motivated to learn from peers and supervisors.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or the international equivalent) in Theatre or Production Arts with Theatre Technology focus from an accredited university or comparable professional experience as a stagehand providing audio and lighting support.
  • Must be familiar with theatre operations etiquette and safety.
  • Experience with carpentry, painting, and working with hand tools to support theatrical repair work.
  • Experience with setting up and maintaining backline equipment, cabling, soldering, or repairing lighting fixtures.
  • Experience with video setup/troubleshooting between Windows or Mac computers and external devices such as projectors and TV screens.
