Position Overview and Role Description

We are hiring for a fast-growing SaaS company delivering ERP solutions to industrial and environmental sectors, supporting leading enterprise clients across Europe. The platform powers complex, mission-critical workflows in waste management and environmental compliance, with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security.

Role Summary

This role is based in Manila, Philippines (fully remote) and works closely with Netherlands-based European stakeholders.

We are hiring a hands-on Technical Lead who owns technical execution and engineering quality end to end. This role is deeply involved in system design, complex coding, code reviews, and technical decision-making, while supporting Delivery Lead manage project tracking and stakeholder communications.

This is not a people-only or coordination role. The Technical Lead must stay productive in code and act as the technical owner of the product area.

What This Role Owns (Non-Negotiable)

System and component design
Code quality and engineering standards
Technical decisions and trade-offs
Mentoring and technical guidance for engineers
Complex tickets, refactors, and critical fixes
Incident support, root cause analysis, and prevention

Key Responsibilities

Technical Ownership & Architecture

Own system and component design across backend, frontend, and data layers
Make independent decisions on implementation approaches and technical trade-offs
Ensure scalability, performance, security, and maintainability of the platform
Review and approve architectural changes; escalate only for major cross-system impacts

Hands-on Development

Actively contribute production-quality code using Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS
Take ownership of complex features, integrations, and refactoring initiatives
Lead investigation and resolution of unclear APIs, requirements, or business rules
Set the bar for clean code, testing practices, and technical excellence

Code Quality & Engineering Standards

Own code reviews and enforce consistent engineering standards
Improve test coverage, CI/CD quality gates, and non-functional requirements
Drive reduction of technical debt through pragmatic, incremental improvements

Mentorship & Team Enablement

Mentor engineers through pairing, reviews, and technical discussions
Unblock engineers by solving technical problems directly, not just advising
Shield the team from poor technical decisions or unstable designs

Production Support & Incident Ownership

Lead incident response for production issues
Perform root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes
Improve observability, logging, alerting, and operational readiness

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years of experience in software engineering or product development
35 years as a Technical Lead or Senior Engineer owning system-level decisions
Strong hands-on expertise with Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, and AWS
Proven experience designing and maintaining APIs and RESTful services (security, versioning, performance)
Experience working on ERP, domain-heavy, or mission-critical systems (waste management or environmental platforms is a strong plus)
Experience working with distributed teams and European stakeholders
Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to operate independently
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
