The responsibilities associated with the position include:
- Identify renewable energy and energy storage investment opportunities by technical scoping, identifying technical risks and making the appropriate technical assessment and recommendation.
- Responsible for the screening, pre-feasibility, feasibility and pre-construction stages of renewable energy and energy storage projects including, but not limited to:
Collection, assessment, validation and synthesis of primary and secondary technical data
Establishment of technical and basis of design criteria including creation of technical control documents and conformance to SHESQ protocols
Design and supervision of site investigation programs
Establishment of terms and conditions of contracts
Bidding and awarding of contracts
Contract negotiation
Supervision of contractors and consultants
- Oversee the technical requirements of the various components of the project value chain, technical project development or acquisition up to project construction to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Support the Project Manager in evaluating project technical status and addressing key project technical issues with senior management, major contractors and key suppliers.
- Support the Project Manager in the technical planning and execution of periodic technical assessment of business processes and verifies alignment with corporate policies and procedures.
- Monitor, control and report on technical risk and opportunities.
- Review project status by monitoring KPIs and parameters using PROMAS or other project management tools.
- Prepare reports on results of technical appraisal reviews with recommendations for remediation, if necessary.
- Ensure a clear and detailed definition of technical scope of work, budget and project timeline.
- Support due diligence of new projects with focus on technical issue.
- Ensure proper turnover of project to the project execution team upon Board approval of final investment decision.
- Conduct quality control of consultants and evaluate final technical reports.
- Perform other duties as may be required by the Head of Project Development.

Skills:
- Technical project management, technical contract management and project technical control
- Design of renewable energy and energy storage systems and understanding of its development from screening to construction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and experience in managing technical teams
- Knowledge in the use of information management systems and project management systems
- Familiar with project control, permitting and obtaining land rights, contracting, SHESQ and challenges in community relations associated with project development
- Computer literate, proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications and presentation tools
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-year combined experience in engineering design, technical management, tendering and construction of renewable energy and energy storage system projects
- Experience in renewable energy and energy storage system technologies and associated infrastructure requirements for development and construction
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
