Location - Remote — Philippines-based candidates
Shift - 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM US Eastern Time (9:00 PM – 5:00 AM Philippines Time)
Employment type - Full-time, long-term
THE ROLE
You are not a drafter. You are the person who takes a concept — sometimes just a photograph or a measurement sketch from a US client — and turns it into a mathematically precise, factory-ready 3D model. Every dimension you produce will be trusted by a manufacturing team. Every drawing you release will be used on a CNC machine or a casting line. There is no room for ambiguity, and that is exactly what makes this work interesting.
You will be part of a small, focused design team — reporting to a Senior Project Engineer and working alongside office-side design engineers and factory-side manufacturing engineers. The work spans the full product lifecycle: from first concept to finished documentation.
What You Will Do
Advanced 3D Modelling
- Build parametric models for luxury architectural hardware — curtain rods, shelving systems, door handles, and custom bracket hardware — using Master Model techniques that allow rapid configuration across finish, length, and diameter variants.
- Use SolidWorks Surface Modelling for complex decorative profiles that require C2 or G2 curvature continuity — this is not approximation work, it is mathematical precision applied to aesthetic form.
- Develop sheet metal components with correct K-factors and bend allowances calibrated for local fabrication partners.
Tooling & CAM
- Execute mold design workflows from scratch: parting line identification, shut-off surfaces, and core/cavity splits for casting products.
- Generate and simulate 2.5 and 3-axis CNC toolpaths in SolidWorks CAM, optimising specifically for surface finish quality on visible decorative faces — not just material removal rate.
- Run Draft Analysis and Wall Thickness checks as a standard part of every release. First-Time-Right manufacturing is the goal, not the exception.
Documentation & Rendering
- Produce 2D engineering drawings with full GD&T, formatted for global manufacturing partners who may be working from different standards.
- Create photorealistic product renders in SolidWorks Visualize for Shopify product pages and marketing catalogs — you are part of the commercial output, not just the back office.
- Build exploded-view animations for customer installation guides.
Data, Systems & Analysis
- Run SolidWorks Simulation (static stress analysis) on structural components — brackets, mounting points, rod spans — to validate designs before they go to the factory. Flag any failures to the SPE with a clear summary of what failed and why.
- Maintain master data for all active products in the SolidWorks library: correct file naming, revision history, configuration structure, and BOM accuracy. A clean library is everyone's responsibility — yours especially as the person building new files daily.
- Work alongside the operations team to ensure design outputs (BOMs, part numbers, dimensions) align with our ERP system (ERPNext). You do not need to be an ERP expert — but you need to understand how your drawings feed into it and flag discrepancies when you see them.
What We Need From You
SolidWorks
4–6 years as your primary tool — not listed alongside 20 other software packages. Surface modelling, SolidWorks CAM, and Visualize familiarity are strongly preferred.
Manufacturing background
Hardware, metalwork, sheet metal fabrication, casting, or CNC-heavy environments. Not civil, structural, or pure architectural roles.
2D and 3D — both
You must be fluent in both parametric 3D modelling and production 2D drawings with GD&T. Strong in one and weak in the other is not workable for this role.
English
C1–C2 professional level. You will be reading US client briefs, asking clarifying questions in writing, and occasionally joining video calls. Clear written communication is non-negotiable.
Your setup
High-spec PC capable of large assemblies and GPU rendering. Reliable high-speed internet with a backup power solution. SolidWorks Professional is installed and licensed.
ERP familiarity
Not mandatory, but a genuine advantage. If you have worked with any ERP system — ERPNext, SAP, Oracle, or similar — and understand how BOMs and part data flow between design and production, you will fit into our workflow faster. If not, we will get you there.
What Success Looks Like In This Role
- In your first 30 days: You have mapped our existing product catalog, flagged inconsistencies in legacy CAD files, and begun building a configurable SolidWorks library that our factory can work from without ambiguity.
- At 3 months: You are independently managing the full Concept → Tooling → Manufacturing pipeline for custom client orders. Zero factory-side revision requests on files you have released.
- At 6 months: You are the technical reference point for manufacturing questions — our factory team contacts you directly because your drawings are trusted without needing a senior review.
What This Role Offers
- Real product ownership. Every piece of hardware you model will be manufactured, packaged, and sold to real customers in the United States. Your work is not abstract.
- Variety over repetition. Every client order is different. Custom lengths, finishes, mounting configurations, organic profiles — you will rarely solve the same problem twice.
- Direct US client exposure. You are not an invisible back-office resource. You will see client briefs, understand the intent behind the brief, and produce work that represents the company.
- A team that knows engineering. Your Senior Project Engineer is a technical lead, not a project coordinator. The feedback you receive will be precise, engineering-level critique — the kind that makes you better.
- Long-term stability. We are building an internal design capability, not outsourcing a project. This is a long-term role with a company that is growing.
