Job Description

The Tax Specialist is responsible for supporting MBPS's compliance with Philippine tax laws and regulatory requirements. The role involves the preparation and filing of tax returns, maintenance of tax records and reconciliations, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel on both tax and regulatory-related matters.

This position provides an exposure to various areas of taxation and compliance, tax accounting, and VAT refund claims.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax reconciliation schedules and facilitate the timely filing and payment of tax returns, such as withholding taxes, VA T, and other applicable taxes

  • Prepare and submit the BIR required attachments such as Alphalist and RELIEF

  • Participate in month-end closing activities, by preparing tax-related account schedules and reconciliations

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and reconciliation of documents and schedules required for VAT refund claims, BIR audit, and business permit renewal

  • Support the preparation of audited FS and year-end compliance activities with the BIR, SEC, and BOI

  • Prepare and file of General Information Sheet and other statutory reportorial requirements

  • Assist with tax-related projects, process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.

  • Up to three (3) years of experience in taxation, accounting, audit, or related areas.

  • Working knowledge of Philippine tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and diligent in reviewing and validating documents.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with different stakeholders and teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA board exam passer is an advantage.

  • Experience in accounting, tax compliance, audits, or VAT refund claims.
