Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

I. Philippine Tax Advisory

  • Issue tax updates on laws, tax treaties, and BIR issuances to relevant business units and offices of BDO and BDO subsidiaries and provide tax advisory and consultation on their interpretation and operative implementation
  • Liaise and coordinate with Global Operations and BDO Singapore/Hong Kong branches to check for new foreign tax rates, legislation, or compliance requirements that may affect Head Office operations, and advise Comptrollership accordingly
  • Perform regular and special tax reviews of original lending transactions by the RBU, FCDU, and Singapore/Hong Kong branches involving both Philippine and nonresident borrowers
  • Conduct the annual review of related parties to be disclosed in BIR Form No. 1709 for BDO and its subsidiaries in support of their Related Party Transaction Reports for income tax return attachments
  • Review related party transaction contracts across BDO and BDO subsidiaries
  • Perform tax evaluation and assess the impact of special projects or unique transactions to be entered into by BDO's local and international units
  • Provide tax opinions, guidance, and recommendations to BDO Groups
  • Advise accounting units of BDO and its subsidiaries

II. Tax Advocacy

  • Represent BDO Unibank in the BAP Tax Committee and other industry groups to promote the banking sector's position on tax laws and regulations
  • Draft and submit BDO's inputs to BAP position papers for submission to the BIR, Congress, and Senate
  • Join technical working groups with the Senate, House, and BIR to provide tax policy and technical inputs

III. Tax Assessments, BIR Administrative Filings and Tax support to External Counsels

  • Assist BDO subsidiaries undergoing BIR and LGU audits by liaising with revenue officers to manage examination costs and streamline the transfer of tax, accounting, and business information
  • Handle BIR administrative requirements
  • Liaise with LGU departments to address business taxes, real property taxes, and other local assessments, and facilitate the securing and renewal of local business permits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related courses
  • At least 7-8 years relevant experience in a banking or financial industry
  • Must be willing to be assigned and work onsite in Ortigas
