Job Description

Key Functions: 

  1. Client service 
  2. Prepare tax returns, as assigned 
  3. Minimal client interaction 
  4. Prepare Tax Workpapers, Prepare Tax Returns, Process Documentation

  • Building a strong understanding of the tax law through client engagements and through personal investment in technical reading 
  • Demonstrates a growing understanding of more complex technical tax concepts, including developing tax issues 
  • Effectively utilizes research tools and other resources in the preparation of income tax returns with easy to moderate complexity 
  • Adequately documents tax return positions and other relevant information in concise tax return workpapers 
  • Demonstrates consistency in the preparation of tax compliance deliverables 
  • Effectively uses Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Understands and effectively utilizes firm tax software and technology resources 
  • Takes responsibility for assigned work, yet seeks help from supervisors throughout the tax preparation process, as appropriate 
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors regarding individual workflow and assigned engagements 
  • Seeks to meet client expectations and communicates challenges or opportunities to supervisors in a timely manner 
  • Consistently and effectively reviews own work product, including but not limited to income tax returns and tax workpapers, prior to submitting for supervisor review 
  • Adheres to firm workflow process in tax compliance engagements and is mindful of time budget expectations 
  • Developing appropriate analytical abilities 
  • Growing ability to identify problems and determine possible causes through obtaining and comparing relevant information 
  • Effectively demonstrates and teaches routine concepts to less experienced staff 
  • Provides timely, meaningful, substantive performance feedback, as appropriate 
  • Volunteers for community events or begins to get involved in professional or civic community organization 
  • Demonstrates a growing awareness of Badger CPA services across departments for possible identification of value-added services and cross-selling opportunities 
  • Builds relationships with client personnel within current sphere of influence 

Education: 

Four-degree required 

Requirements: 

  • Entry level to intermediate experience in tax preparation 
  • 20 hours/year relevant training
