Job Description

MSpectrum is a solar power company built with Meralco's energy expertise and service standards. This role provides supervisory electrical engineering expertise and performs engineering design processes in order to provide renewable energy (RE) solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential customers, and translates strategic directions into operational tactics and programs / initiatives aligned with and fully supportive of the Company's thrusts and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Must be a licensed Registered Electrical Engineer (REE)
  • Minimum 5yearsof experience in electrical design engineering, with demonstrated exposure to renewable energy projects
  • Proven experience in solar PV electrical design and project delivery
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineers or handling technical review responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Engineering Design & Technical Delivery

  • Leads the planning, design, and optimization of solar PV electrical systems to support client requirements and new business opportunities.
  • Oversees site surveys, customer requirement gathering, and preparation of project plans for design proposals.
  • Reviews and approves detailed scope of work, BOQs/material take-offs, technical specifications, permits, licenses, safety requirements, and other supporting documents prior to implementation.
  • Creates, reviews, and finalizes electrical designs based on simulations, load studies, energy projections, and client/account officer inputs.
  • Evaluates final design outputs against post-implementation performance and recommends optimization measures where necessary.
  • Ensures all technical specifications are accurately reflected in contracts, proposals, and service level agreements (SLAs).

2. Technical Leadership

  • Serves as the technical subject-matter expert (SME) for electrical aspects of solar PV systems.
  • Conducts comprehensive design reviews and ensures adherence to best engineering practices.
  • Reviews and signs off on complex calculations, simulations, and design drawings prepared by the team.
  • Provides mentorship, coaching, and technical direction to Electrical Design Engineers.
  • Acts as escalation point for critical design issues, technical conflicts, and multidisciplinary coordination challenges.

3. Stakeholder Management & Acting Head Support

  • Serves as primary POC for electrical design matters across internal stakeholders includingProject Management, Supply Chain, Corporate Planning & Business Development, Commercial Service, and Operations & Maintenance.
  • Represents the electrical design function in client, utility, and regulatory discussions when required.
  • Acts on behalf of the Design & Engineering Head in their absence for electrical-related decisions and approvals, ensuring uninterrupted project execution.

4. Compliance & Standards

  • Ensures full compliance with:
  • Local electrical codes
  • Utility interconnection requirements
  • Grid compliance standards
  • Applicable occupational safety and electrical safety regulations
  • Reviews and validates designs to ensure regulatory readiness prior to submission and implementation.
  • Keeps updated with changes in regulatory frameworks and industry standards affecting solar PV systems.

5. Standards Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Leads the development and maintenance of electrical design standards, templates, product portfolio references, and work scopes.
  • Improves engineering processes, design tools, costing methodologies, and documentation systems.
  • Drives research and evaluation of new renewable energy technologies, design methodologies, and software tools.
  • Maintains and safeguards engineering knowledge databases and intellectual property.

Must be proficient in:

  • AutoCAD
  • PVsyst
  • PlanSwift
  • Other related or similar software for energy projection and PV plant generation modeling
