Job Summary
The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for recording and reconciling inventory transactions related to voyages and warehouse operations. This role supports month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensures accurate financial reporting, and contributes to continuous process improvement efforts. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Record inventory consumption and adjustments upon voyage completion
- Record and monitor inventory activity for warehouses
- Prepare monthly close journal entries, including accruals, clean-up, and reclassification entries
- Support quarterly close activities, including voyage accrual splits and variance explanations
- Prepare account reconciliations and perform research on discrepancies
- Assist with reserve assessment file preparation
- Support process improvement initiatives and provide recommendations for efficiency enhancements
- Ensure all close and reconciliation deadlines are consistently met
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across different time zones
Qualifications & Requirements
- Accounting background or relevant accounting experience required
- Strong PC skills with above-average proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work during peak periods, particularly during month-end and quarter-end close
- Ability to collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle system experience
- Cruise industry experience
- Experience with CrunchTime and/or APEX systems
