Roles and Responsibilities: SPED Teacher (with ABA Therapy Experience)1. Individualized Instruction & Program Development

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's learning needs, strengths, and goals.
  • Use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to create targeted interventions, behavior plans, and skill-building programs.
  • Conduct functional assessments and observations to determine the child's current skills and areas for improvement.

2. Behavior Management

  • Design and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) using positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Track and manage challenging behaviors while ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Consistently monitor and adjust behavior plans as needed based on progress and data.

3. Data Tracking & Progress Monitoring

  • Collect, record, and analyze data daily to measure progress and guide instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sessions, behavioral data, and student achievements.
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates for parents, caregivers, and the school team.

4. Classroom Instruction & Support

  • Plan and facilitate engaging, play-based, and developmentally appropriate activities that support literacy, numeracy, communication, social-emotional development, and functional skills.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and materials to ensure accessibility for diverse learners.
  • Use visual supports, structured schedules, and other evidence-based tools to support learning.

5. Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with parents, therapists (Speech, OT, PT, ABA), and school administrators to ensure aligned goals and a cohesive support plan.
  • Participate in meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary planning sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding daily updates, strategies, and student growth.

6. Professionalism & Child Safety

  • Maintain a positive, patient, and empathetic approach when working with children with developmental delays or special needs.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, ethical guidelines, and confidentiality standards.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that promotes independence and confidence.

7. Continuous Professional Growth

  • Stay updated on best practices in SPED and ABA.
  • Attend trainings, workshops, and school-required professional development sessions.
