Role Overview

A leading technology solutions organization is seeking a Solution Sales Engineer to support sales teams in designing and positioning technical solutions for enterprise clients. This role is responsible for driving the technical close of deals by ensuring proposed solutions are feasible, aligned with customer requirements, and commercially viable. The position works closely with sales, engineering, product, and delivery teams to scope solutions, prepare proposals, and guide clients through the technical aspects of the sales process.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Support & Client Engagement

  • Partner with sales teams to define and scope technical solutions that address customer requirements.
  • Analyze customer needs and recommend solutions that balance technical feasibility and business value.
  • Support business development efforts through solution positioning, presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Act as a technical advisor to both internal teams and clients throughout the sales cycle.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, risk assessments, and solution proposals.
  • Prioritize and support sales opportunities to maximize business impact and revenue potential.
  • Mentor and enable sales teams to strengthen technical knowledge and pre-sales capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transition from solution design to delivery.

Technical Solutioning & Architecture


  • Gather, analyze, and document technical and business requirements using structured methodologies.
  • Identify gaps or risks in requirements that may impact solution design or delivery.
  • Support and contribute to solution architecture design for enterprise-level opportunities.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for engineering and delivery teams.
  • Develop and document solution proposals, including scope, timelines, and cost estimates.
  • Provide risk assessments and ensure solutions meet both technical and commercial objectives.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to solution offerings and processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of solution design practices and tools.

Qualifications And Experience


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales engineering, pre-sales, or technical solutioning roles within enterprise environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in solution architecture or designing software-based solutions.
  • At least 3 years of experience in mobile and/or web application development.
  • Proven experience in client-facing technical roles such as Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Project Manager, or Pre-sales Consultant.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, solution documentation, and cost estimates.
  • Background in custom software development and IT services pre-sales is highly preferred.
  • Exposure to project delivery, systems integration, managed services, or application support is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge


  • Strong understanding of solution architecture principles and design methodologies.
  • Experience in requirements gathering, business analysis, and system design.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Knowledge of modern application technologies (web, mobile, and enterprise systems).
  • Understanding of technical documentation and proposal development.
  • Experience in client engagement and stakeholder management.
