What You'll Do in the Role
- Design, develop, and maintain custom Shopify apps and storefront features
- Extend admin and embedded apps using Remix and Express
- Translate UI/UX wireframes into fully functional components using React and modern CSS
- Implement and manage authentication flows, webhooks, and API integrations
- Own technical decisions and collaborate closely with the product team
- Write maintainable, production-grade code that follows best practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared tooling and patterns
- Optimise storefront and admin performance, accessibility, and SEO
- Troubleshoot Shopify conflicts, integration bugs, and app stability issues
- Stay up to date with Shopify platform changes, APIs, and ecosystem best practices
AI-Augmented Development (Mandatory Expectation)
- We fully integrate AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Copilot) into our workflows.
- You are expected to use AI daily for coding assistance, refactoring, documentation, testing, and decision support.
- Refusal or inability to use AI constructively will be considered a performance concern.
- Effective use of AI is critical to meeting our speed, quality, and delivery expectations.
Skills /Qualifications
Minimum Requirements (must- have)
- 5+ years of professional experience in modern web and eCommerce development
- 3+ years of hands- on experience with Shopify platform development
Strong skills in
- Custom Shopify App Development- (admin/embedded apps using Remix, Node.js, Express)
- Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), React
- Shopify Admin APIs, GraphQL & REST APIs, OAuth flows, webhooks
- Building scalable and performant frontend interfaces from wireframes or Figma
- Backend logic, service integrations, and webhooks using Node.js/Express
- SQL (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL)
- Git and standard development workflows
- Experience writing maintainable, well- documented code
- Proven ability to follow structured workflows (e.g. task tracking, documentation, PRs)
- Active and effective usage of AI tools*- (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Cursor) as part of daily dev work
Desirable / Nice- to- Have
- Experience with Prisma, schema modelling, and migrations
- Familiarity with Xero or other accounting integrations
- Stripe/PayPal or other payment gateway integration experience
- Experience with Headless Shopify (Hydrogen, Storefront API)
- Some familiarity with .NET (C#, Razor, Web API)
- Shopify Partner or Developer Certification
