Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a skilled Video Editor to support the creation of engaging short-form and long-form video content across Instagram and YouTube. This role is ideal for someone who understands storytelling, pacing, and audience retentionespecially within educational and tutorial-based content. You will work closely with the founder to transform raw, unscripted footage into polished videos that feel authentic, empowering, and highly engaging.

Key Responsibilities:

Short-Form Content Creation

• Edit raw footage into high-performing Instagram Reels (1560 seconds), maintaining strong pacing, momentum, and viewer engagement.
• Preserve an authentic, unscripted feel while enhancing clarity and visual appeal.

Long-Form Content Production

• Transform hours of multi-day project footage into polished YouTube videos (515+ minutes).
• Structure content to align with blog tutorials and educational narratives.

Content Curation & Organization

• Review and organize large volumes of raw footage to identify key teaching moments, transitions, and highlights.
• Select clips that best communicate project steps, outcomes, and learning objectives.

Audio & Voiceover Integration

• Edit and balance voiceovers, dialogue, and background audio for clear, professional sound quality.
• Ensure audio supports storytelling and viewer retention.

Style Development

• Develop and maintain a consistent visual and editorial style aligned with the brand's approachable, empowering tone.
• Apply consistent color grading, transitions, and motion elements where appropriate.

Analytics & Performance Tracking

• Monitor performance metrics on Instagram and YouTube (retention, engagement, watch time).
• Provide insights and recommendations to optimize future content.

Audience & Content Strategy Support

• Contribute to overall content strategy to ensure videos resonate with the target audience and encourage community interaction.

Collaboration & Feedback

• Work iteratively with the founder through multiple rounds of feedback and revisions.
• Translate nuanced creative direction into high-quality final edits.

Project Management

• Manage timelines and workflows across multiple projects in various stages of production.
• Ensure deadlines are met consistently.

Requirements:

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in professional video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of short-form vs. long-form video formats and platform-specific best practices.
• Experience with motion graphics, color correction/grading, and audio editing.
• Familiarity with YouTube and Instagram analytics and optimization techniques.

Experience

• 23+ years of professional video editing experience.
• Portfolio demonstrating both short-form social content and long-form YouTube or streaming videos.
• Experience editing educational, tutorial, or instructional content is strongly preferred.
• Background in lifestyle, DIY, home improvement, or similar content niches is a plus.
• Proven ability to support audience growth and engagement through video.

• Ability to interpret analytics and adjust editing or content strategy accordingly.
