Job Summary: The Senior Risk Officer-Credit Risk Oversight is responsible for conducting independent, fundamental credit reviews of the Bank's Consumer/SME loan portfolio to ensure compliance to both internal policies and external regulation. The role provides objective assessment of credit quality, validates adherence to sound credit granting and monitoring practices, identifies emerging credit risks, and delivers forward looking, management ready risk insights to support safe and sound consumer banking operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independent Fundamental Credit Review
- Conduct independent, risk based reviews of consumer credit exposures across the credit cycle, covering secured and unsecured retail products and SME, to assess underwriting quality, borrower repayment capacity, and compliance with approved credit policies.
- Evaluate borrower fundamentals consistent with regulatory expectations on prudent credit evaluation.
- Validate credit risk ratings, delinquency classification, and loan staging, ensuring accuracy and consistency with internal credit standards and regulatory guidance.
- Credit Risk Monitoring, Measurement & Control
- Assess the effectiveness of consumer credit monitoring processes.
- Identify emerging portfolio level risks, such as rising delinquencies, concentration build ups, or underwriting slippage, and recommend timely corrective actions.
- Support the Bank's ability to measure and monitor portfolio risks commensurate with the size and complexity of its Consumer/SME lending activities.
- Risk Reporting & Management Support
- Ensure the completeness, accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of Consumer/SME credit risk information and data used in credit reviews, reporting, and risk assessments, supporting effective management decision making and compliance with regulatory expectations on transparency and governance.
- Prepare clear, concise, and management ready credit review reports that summarize key findings, root causes, and residual risks for senior management and governance committees.
- Assist in the timely resolution of audit and regulatory findings related to Consumer/SME credit risk management.
- Policy, Governance & Regulatory Alignment
- Support the review, enhancement, and consistent implementation of Consumer/SME credit risk policies and guidelines, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and the Bank's risk appetite.
- Identify material credit risk issues requiring escalation to senior management, with well supported recommendations for remediation.
- Contribute to governance forums and risk committees by providing independent credit risk perspectives.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Unit Head from time to time
- Work collaboratively with business units, credit operations, collections, and analytics teams while maintaining the second line risk oversight role.
Qualification:
- With 3-7 years of experience in credit risk management, credit review, credit operations, or credit policy preferably within consumer or retail banking.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or related discipline.
Required Skills:
- Solid grounding in consumer credit fundamentals, portfolio risk drivers, and retail banking products.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex credit risk issues clearly and credibly to senior management and regulators.
- High level of professional judgment, independence, and attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder management skills while upholding governance and risk standards.
- Proactive, improvement oriented mindset aligned with a culture of prudence and accountability.
- Above average Microsoft applications (Excel/Word/Powerpoint) proficiency level
- It would be a plus if knowledgeable in R Studio, Python and other programming languages
