Senior React Native Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior React Native Developer to take a leading role in architecting, developing, and deploying complex cross-platform mobile applications. In this role, you will define our frontend architecture, optimise bridge performance, drive our state management strategy, and take full ownership of end-to-end delivery — from initial technical design through to successful app store release and post-launch monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

•  End-to-End Delivery Ownership: Take complete accountability for the mobile product lifecycle. You will translate product requirements into technical architecture, drive the development phase, and ensure timely, high-quality feature delivery.

•  Architect & Build: Lead the development of highly performant, scalable mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms using React Native and TypeScript.

•  State Management Strategy: Design and maintain a pragmatic state architecture, using Zustand for lightweight, high-performance client/UI state and Redux Toolkit (RTK) for complex, enterprise-level data flows, caching, or legacy integration.

•  Native Integration: Build custom native modules and bridge native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin/Java) SDKs when cross-platform solutions are insufficient.

•  Code Quality & Standards: Conduct rigorous code reviews and enforce architectural guidelines to ensure a robust, secure, and maintainable codebase.

•  CI/CD & Deployment: Oversee the deployment lifecycle to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, managing updates, versioning, and automated CI/CD pipelines.

Technical Requirements

•  Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years specifically dedicated to React Native development.

•  Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in React Native, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript paradigms.

•  State Management Expertise:

◦  Deep understanding of Redux Toolkit, including thunks, selectors, and complex slice architecture.

◦  Proven experience implementing Zustand for atomic, zero-boilerplate state management.

◦  The architectural maturity to know when to use which tool based on data frequency, bundle size, and component re-render optimisation.

•  API & Networking: Expertise in integrating RESTful APIs and managing complex GraphQL queries, including robust pagination strategies and synchronisation with dynamic backends.

•  Testing: Strong capability in writing robust, well-tested code using Jest and React Native Testing Library.

Nice to Have

•  Experience with end-to-end (E2E) and mobile automation testing frameworks (e.g., Detox, Maestro, Appium).

•  Working knowledge of mobile DevOps and pipeline automation tools such as Fastlane, EAS, or Gradle.

•  Experience designing offline-first architectures and utilising local persistence solutions (e.g., MMKV, WatermelonDB).
