- Pre-Contract Duties:
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and feasibility studies.
- Manage and review bills of quantities, tender documents, and procurement strategies.
- Support risk analysis and value engineering exercises.
- Contract Management:
- Administer contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, or local forms).
- Evaluate and negotiate tenders and subcontractor agreements.
- Monitor contract compliance and change management.
- Cost Control and Reporting:
- Track budget vs actual costs, provide cost forecasts, and mitigate variances.
- Approve and certify interim payments, variations, and claims.
- Provide monthly cost reports and financial dashboards to stakeholders.
- Team Leadership and Coordination:
- Mentor and supervise junior QS staff.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and finance teams.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants professionally.
- Post-Contract Duties:
- Prepare and negotiate final accounts.
- Support audits and project close-out reporting.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvements.
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIArb, ICE, or local equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead QS role.
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and cost management software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Excel).
