Role Description
The Senior Project Manager Business Development will lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale and distributed solar projects, with primary responsibility for project management execution, land origination, and executive reporting.
This role combines strong project leadership with proactive business development, particularly in identifying, evaluating, and securing prospective properties suitable for solar development. The Senior Project Manager will oversee project timelines from site identification through early-stage development milestones, ensuring alignment with company targets and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing solar project development pipelines from site sourcing to shovel-ready status
Identifying and evaluating prospective land parcels for solar suitability (technical, regulatory, commercial viability)
Conducting preliminary feasibility assessments and coordinating due diligence (land, permitting, grid, technical)
Managing cross-functional teams (technical, legal, finance, external consultants) to ensure timely project progression
Preparing and delivering structured reports, executive summaries, and board-ready presentations on project status, risks, and opportunities
Monitoring key development milestones and proactively managing project risks and bottlenecks
Supporting commercial negotiations with landowners, partners, and key stakeholders
Driving business growth through disciplined pipeline expansion and strategic opportunity sourcing
Financial modeling and commercial evaluation will serve as supporting tools to guide decision-making and strengthen investment cases.
Qualifications
Project Management Expertise
Proven experience managing complex infrastructure or renewable energy projects
Strong ability to plan, sequence, and monitor development milestones
Demonstrated capability in risk identification, mitigation planning, and execution control
Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders
Business Development & Land Origination
Strong experience in sourcing, evaluating, and securing prospective properties for solar or infrastructure projects
Ability to assess land suitability including grid proximity, permitting constraints, land classification, and commercial potential
Track record in expanding and managing a development pipeline
Reporting & Executive Presentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prepare structured reports, board presentations, and management updates
Comfortable presenting project analyses, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership
Financial Modeling & Commercial Analysis (Secondary)
Working knowledge of financial modeling, project feasibility analysis, and return metrics (e.g., IRR, payback, NPV)
Ability to support investment decision-making through structured financial evaluation
