Role: Senior Payroll Officer
Work Arrangement: Work from Home
Location: Any CS Branch - Ortigas / Makati / Bacolod / Cebu / Davao / Mabalacat / Angeles (Pampanga)
Schedule: Morning Shift
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Own end-to-end payroll workflow delivery to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Monitor, manage, and enforce SLAs, proactively identifying and resolving capacity risks
- Oversee escalations and complex customer issues, ensuring high-quality outcomes
Quality & Process Excellence
- Implement and continuously refine robust quality control practices with our Process & Quality team
- Lead root-cause analysis, document findings, and implement preventive solutions
- Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures and knowledge assets
Scaling & Transformation
- Build and optimise scalable onboarding processes to reduce key-person dependency
- Act as the technical payroll SME as we transition toward a marketplace and tech-enabled delivery model
- Partner closely with Product & Engineering to improve workflows, automate manual tasks, and unlock efficiencies
People Leadership
- Develop, mentor, and upskill payroll specialists to maintain high performance
- Support hiring, onboarding, and capability development across the payroll team
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Customer Success, Implementations, and Quality to continuously improve service delivery
- Provide insights and operational feedback to influence roadmap and strategic priorities
- Are a proven operator with 3+ years of payroll leadership experience
- Are obsessed with execution and delivering high-quality outcomes at scale
- Set a high bar for accuracy, compliance, and consistency
- Love building scalable systems, workflows, and processes
- Have deep payroll operations and compliance experience (Australia & NZ ideal)
- Are detail-oriented but also able to think holistically and design systems
- Enjoy partnering with product teams to enhance tooling and automation
- Want to be part of building the future of payroll delivery in a modern, AI-enabled model
Bonus
- Have experience transitioning teams to marketplace, BPO, or distributed delivery models
- Have implemented or enhanced payroll platforms and automation
- Have worked in a startup or high-growth environment
- Have experience across multiple payroll systems and regional compliance environments
Qualification And Requirements
- 4+ yrs Australian payroll across modern awards / EAs
- Power-user of Employment Hero and or KeyPay (rules engine, custom GL, STP 2)
- Expert knowledge: award compliance, payroll tax (all states), super, portable LSL, workers comp, FBT
- Exposure to HRIS / Time and Attendance integrations (Tanda, Shiftcare, BambooHR) desirable
- Clear, confident Englishable to translate payroll jargon into plain language for customers & stakeholders
Non-negotiable Skills & Requirements
- 4+ yrs Australian payroll across modern awards / EAs
