About the Role
The Senior Oracle Applications Database Administrator is responsible for supporting the upgrade, administration, and ongoing maintenance of the Company's Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environment. This role provides expert-level database administration, performance tuning, automation, and best-practice guidance while working closely with IT teams to ensure system stability and availability across all environments.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade & Support
- Support the technical upgrade of Oracle E-Business Suite from version 12.1.3 to 12.2.13
- Troubleshoot upgrade-related issues with deep knowledge of EBS 12.2 architecture
- Guide DBA teams on best practices for maintaining an EBS 12.2 environment
- Share technical expertise to strengthen overall team capability
Oracle Database Administration
- Perform database cloning activities
- Manage backup and recovery operations, including:
- Export/import for schema refresh
- Full database restore and recovery
- Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
- RMAN backup strategies and policies
- Oracle Data Guard configuration and administration
- Conduct database performance tuning
- Manage storage (tablespaces, monitoring, disk expansion requests)
- Administer users, roles, and privileges
Monitoring, Maintenance & Support
- Monitor database performance across development, testing, UAT, SIT, and production environments
- Perform daily database health and availability checks
- Deploy database-related customizations and handle ad hoc requests
- Support development teams in resolving database and application issues
- Apply database patches, security updates, and bug fixes
Tools & Automation
- Manage and maintain DBA tools, including:
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Oracle Application Express (APEX)
- Automate routine DBA tasks using Ansible or shell scripting, such as:
- Monitoring and reporting
- Backup execution
- Database cloning and schema refresh
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Respond to end-user and stakeholder requests in coordination with IT teams
- Liaise with Oracle Support and manage Service Requests via My Oracle Support (MOS)
- Provide weekly progress updates to the supervisor
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Oracle Database and Oracle E-Business Suite administration
- Proven experience upgrading Oracle EBS from 12.1.x to 12.2.x
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience managing Oracle EBS 12.2 in BAU operations
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Oracle EBS 12.2 architecture
- Proficient in EBS cloning and patching (DB and Apps) using ADOP
- Advanced RMAN backup and recovery skills
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard
- Strong Oracle database performance tuning skills
- Solid SQL*Plus and PL/SQL knowledge
- Experience using SQL Developer and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Functional understanding of Oracle EBS HR and Financial modules
Optional / Nice-to-Have
- Experience running Oracle Applications on Azure Virtual Machines
- Exposure to MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Unix/Linux system administration experience
- Basic networking and infrastructure troubleshooting knowledge
