Job Description: Senior MEP Engineer (Part-Time)
Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineer to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee design and implementation of MEP systems, and ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements. This role is suited for a seasoned professional who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on technical contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, review, and coordination of MEP systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams
- Conduct feasibility studies, load calculations, and system design analysis
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and sustainability standards
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into project designs
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and project documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues during design and construction phases
- Support project management teams with scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Contribute to value engineering initiatives to optimize system performance and cost efficiency
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification strongly preferred
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in MEP design, engineering, and project management
- Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering successful projects
Technical Skills
- Expertise in HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, and plumbing systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other design software
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other relevant standards
- Ability to conduct advanced calculations and system modeling
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED)
