JOB SUMMARY :
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading mechanical design review, technical coordination, and engineering assurance across assigned projects. The role ensures that mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection are designed and delivered in compliance with project specifications, international standards, and operational requirements. The position requires strong technical knowledge, multidisciplinary coordination, and active involvement during design development, procurement, and construction stages.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead the technical review of mechanical design packages, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure mechanical systems are compliant with applicable codes, sustainability targets, and project performance requirements.
- Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, electrical, and infrastructure teams to achieve integrated design solutions.
- Review contractor submissions such as shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and RFIs.
- Participate in constructability reviews, value engineering exercises, and technical workshops.
- Provide technical support during tender evaluation and procurement related to mechanical scope.
- Monitor design development to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies during design and construction phases.
- Support commissioning strategy discussions and ensure maintainability and operability considerations are incorporated into the design.
- Attend technical coordination meetings and contribute to stage-gate reviews where required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
- Minimum 10 years in mechanical engineering design and technical delivery on large-scale building projects.
- Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems design and review.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, or equivalent codes.
- Experience using mechanical design and coordination tools (e.g., HAP, Revit MEP, Navisworks, or similar).
- Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage technical interfaces.
- Professional engineering certification or chartership is preferred.
- Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
