ROLE OVERVIEW

In this dynamic role, your expertise in mechanical engineering will ensure the seamless operation and comfort of building systems. You will create high-quality mechanical designs that adhere to regional and international standards, ensuring continuous heating, cooling, and air distribution for building projects. Leveraging AutoCAD and Revit, you will produce detailed 2D and 3D models that support architectural and construction documentation.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You'll work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to establish HVAC requirements, leading to timely and effective design solutions. As part of a remote night shift team, your organizational skills will be key in coordinating project timelines and managing deliverables.

You're Likely a Strong Fit If You Have

• 5+ years of progressive HVAC design experience for commercial or institutional building projects
• Direct responsibility for producing mechanical drawings and specifications aligned with U.S. building and energy codes (IBC, NYC, NYS, NJ)
• Hands-on experience performing heating and cooling load calculations (preferably Trace) and code-based outside air/exhaust calculations
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (xrefs, autolisps, dynamic blocks, duct and piping systems)
• Strong expertise in Revit (model linking, duct and piping routing, families, filters, templates, sheet setups)
• Experience designing VRF heat pump and heat recovery systems, hydronic systems (condenser, hot water, chilled water), and air distribution systems
• Experience working within multidisciplinary MEP coordination environments
• Willingness to work a fixed night shift (8:00 PM–5:00 AM, Monday–Friday) in a fully remote setup

Responsibility Pillars

HVAC System Design Ownership

You are accountable for delivering coordinated, code-compliant HVAC designs from concept through documentation.

• Design heating, cooling, ventilation, and air distribution systems
• Develop VRF, hydronic, and air-side system layouts
• Prepare riser diagrams, schedules, and technical details

Mechanical Modeling & Documentation

You translate design intent into coordinated digital outputs using industry-standard tools.

• Build and manage Revit models, including duct and piping routing
• Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings aligned with architectural documentation
• Maintain sheet sets, families, templates, and documentation standards

Code Compliance & Engineering Calculations

You ensure every output aligns with regulatory and performance requirements.

• Perform heating/cooling load calculations and ventilation computations
• Validate designs against IBC and local energy codes
• Incorporate code-required minimums into system sizing and documentation

Cross-Disciplinary Coordination

You operate within structured project teams to ensure system integration and constructability.

• Coordinate with MEP trades and project managers on design constraints
• Resolve clashes and design conflicts proactively
• Communicate technical clarifications to internal and external stakeholders
