Job Description

Role

As Senior Legal Counsel Power Projects Development, you will serve as the primary legal architect for the planning, financing, construction, and pre-operation phases of our thermal power projects. You will act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and project team, ensuring our developments are commercially viable, legally robust, and compliant with Philippine laws and international best practices.

Your Impact:

  • Strategic Advisory: You will provide high-level legal guidance on regulatory risks, navigating the DOE, ERC, DENR, and LGU landscapes (including permits, ECCs, and tariff filings).
  • Complex Transactions: You will lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of high-stakes contracts, including EPC, O&M, Fuel Supply, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA/PSA), and Interconnection agreements.
  • Land & Social License: You will oversee legal due diligence for land acquisition, Right-of-Way (ROW), and resettlement, while guiding the team on community engagement and FPIC.
  • Financing & Risk Mitigation: You will structure project financing deals (loan agreements, security packages) and proactively identify legal risks to prevent disputes or delays.

Requirements

We are looking for a senior legal professional who combines deep regulatory knowledge with commercial acumen.

  • Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB/JD) and a Philippine Bar passer (Required).
  • Experience: 710+ years of relevant experience in energy, infrastructure, or construction law.
  • Domain Expertise: Strong background in Power projects (Thermal/Coal/LNG/Biomass preferred), EPC contracts, and Philippine environmental regulations.
  • Government Relations: Proven track record interfacing with agencies such as DOE, ERC, DENR, NCIP, and LGUs.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and an ability to leverage AI tools for efficiency.
  • Languages: Fluent in English and Tagalog.

  • Ability to prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision.

Practical Information

  • Position Title: Senior Legal Counsel Power Projects Development
  • Location: Manila, Philippines (with periodic travel to project sites and government agencies).
  • Employment Type: Full-time.
  • Reporting: Directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
