About Penbrothers
Penbrothers is an HR & remote talent management partner and one of the fastest growing companies in the Philippines. We provide talented Filipinos with global opportunities in high-growth startups and dynamic companies, from the comfort of their own homes.
About the Client
Our client is a fast-paced service company operating across dynamic global markets, seeking driven accounting talent to support their continuous scale, financial compliance, and operational excellence.
About the Role
The Senior General Accountant owns core general-accounting deliverables end to end — from month-end close and reconciliations to fixed assets and supporting schedules — ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial records. Working closely with the Finance Manager, the role also supports financial reporting, audits, and continuous process improvement within a fast-paced service environment.
Work hours: 9:00AM to 6:00PM PHT
Work set-up: Hybrid (Preferably can report to either Makati/Mandaluyong Offices at least 3x a week; and more if there are seasonal audit reviews)
What you'll do
- Month-end close: Lead and execute the monthly and quarterly close, ensuring accurate and timely results in accordance with IFRS/PFRS, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis for assigned accounts/clients.
- Fixed assets: Set up and maintain the fixed asset register — including asset capitalization, tagging, transfers, and disposals — and compute and post monthly depreciation.
- Bank reconciliation: Prepare and review bank reconciliations, ensuring differences are identified, investigated, and cleared on a timely basis.
- P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliation: Reconcile Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring balances are accurately stated and fully supported.
- Monthly schedules: Prepare and maintain monthly schedules for key general accounts (e.g., accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other supporting balances) to substantiate the financial statements.
- Financial statements: Prepare and assist in the preparation of financial statements — including the profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow — within agreed timelines and in accordance with IFRS/PFRS, as directed by the Finance Manager.
- Management reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting packs and supporting schedules, presenting results, key movements, and trends to support review by the Finance Manager and business owners.
- Variance analysis: Analyze actuals against budget, forecast, and prior year for assigned accounts/clients; research, quantify, and clearly explain the drivers of variances on a timely basis.
- Support internal and external audits and assist with BIR and other regulatory audits.
- Assist in forecasting and budgeting for assigned accounts/clients.
- Help lead the implementation of best practices across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger to simplify, standardize, and scale operations.
- Help develop and refine Record-to-Report (RTR) accounting processes and procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, AP, Payroll, FP&A, Tax, and business owners on policies, processes, and key system initiatives and improvements.
- Support and mentor other members of the accounting team on financial reporting standards.
- Drive process improvements and cost-saving initiatives, and keep process documentation accurate and up to date.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field; CPA is an advantage.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in general accounting.
- Experience in a BPO, shared-services, or service company is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of IFRS/PFRS and end-to-end general accounting (Record-to-Report) processes.
