Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the end-to-end calculation of Net Asset Value (NAV). Perform detailed cash, position, and Trial Balance reconciliations against fund administrators, custodians, prime brokers, and bank accounts, actively investigating and resolving breaks.
- Calculate and track individual partner allocations for income, expenses, gains, and losses. Review quarterly and annual Partner Statements, maintaining precise records of paid-in capital, and unfunded commitments.
- Execute daily operations across the Private Equity lifecycle, including: a.) Processing and calculating capital calls, drawdowns, and distributions. b.) Applying waterfall models, distribution rules, preferred returns, and carried interest calculations. c.) Supporting pre- and post-closing operations for fund investments.
- Lead month-end close workflows and drive quarter-end and year-end financial statements review, ensuring all supporting schedules and trial balances are accurate and audit-ready.
- Actively review day-to-day accounting workflows, data entries, and system tools to highlight manual bottlenecks, duplicate efforts, or operational risks.
- Collaborate with the Fund Accounting Lead and/or Fund Accounting colleagues to design streamlined workflows, automate routine spreadsheets, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to boost data accuracy and delivery speeds.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in fund accounting or fund administration, with a dedicated background in Private Equity or closed-end fund structures (experience processing capital calls, waterfalls, and bank reconciliations is required).
- Demonstrated experience in helping a team improve workflows, clean up legacy spreadsheets, or adopt new accounting software modules.
- Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of meeting strict monthly and quarterly financial closing deadlines.
- Highly proficient in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables); experience with specialized fund accounting systems (e.g., Geneva) is a strong plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Progress toward a CPA/CFA/CAIA is viewed favorably but not required.
- Naturally curious and eager to look for more efficient, modern ways to complete recurring financial tasks.
- Driven by a high degree of attention to detail, ensuring financial numbers are clean and fully reconciled before submission.
- Capable of balancing multiple deliverables and shifts in priority within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to explain accounting figures and variances clearly to internal team leads and Fund Controllers.
